The Middle East is an area where car is king and fuel is low-cost, frequently leaving little incentive to discover more environmentally-friendly methods of moving around.
But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have risen the cost of oil, the issue of discovering alternative sources of fuel has actually entered into sharp focus.
In an area that has one of the greatest carbon footprints on the planet, one company is making the most of the growing pressure to find to oil. It's established the Middle East's first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving profitable too, currently their client-list consists of McDonald's.
